Waste remains a persistent issue that continues to receive attention at the global, national, and local levels. This is because human activities inevitably generate waste, including both organic and inorganic waste. Waste refers to the by-products or residues generated from various activities carried out by individuals, either directly or indirectly, which are discarded because they are considered to have no further use. This study employed a qualitative research method using a descriptive approach. The study aimed to examine community perceptions of the existence of a temporary waste disposal facility in Tubo Urban Village. A descriptive qualitative research design was employed. The study population consisted of 611 households, from which 24 households were selected as samples across eight neighborhood units (RTs), with three households selected from each RT. The sample was determined based on the criteria that the household head had lived in the area for more than five years and owned the house, as they were considered to have a better understanding of the location of the temporary waste disposal facility. The findings showed that waste management at the temporary waste disposal facility involved waste sorting, collection, and transportation to the final disposal site. The waste-sorting process included a program for managing organic waste. Community perceptions of the temporary waste disposal facility were generally negative, particularly following its relocation. Residents living near the facility reported experiencing the effects of air pollution, while the aesthetic quality of the surrounding environment was also perceived to have deteriorated due to the presence of the facility in their neighborhood.
